I’ve been feeling the need for some inspiration lately and came across these words on Pinterest and thought I’d share in case you were in need of some words of wisdom as well.
I wish some of my students would tell themselves “You are important”, or “You can do this”. Because it’s hard to see those that don’t believe in themselves. You know, those students that look away when you are asking questions, or those that have that look of self defeat before even getting started.
I’ll never forget a quote I saw painted on the wall of a Papa Johns Pizza last year. It said…
If you say you CAN’T, you’re right!
Isn’t that amazing and so true? I share that quote with my kiddos every time I can. Especially during those moments when you hear the “can’ts” (You know those students that love to use that four letter word C-A-N’-T ALL THE TIME!) I explain to them that in saying “I can’t” they fail to give themselves the opportunity to prove that they CAN.
Could you imagine what would have happened if Albert Einstein gave up and said “I can’t” or if the Wright brothers said “We can’t”? Imagine all of the inventions and innovations we might have missed out on had somebody said “I can’t” a few years ago.
So from this day forward teach your children to say:
I CAN, and I will… because I BELIEVE in MYSELF!
