I know I’ve been gone for quite some time and you’ve probably been wondering what happened to me. Don’t worry I am A-OK… to be quite honest, my absence was a combination of the end of school year craze and an unexpected FLOODING in my house…
… mainly a result of the flooding. The worst part was that it occurred the day before Mother’s Day :0(
Imagine being woken up by the kids at 7:00am with “Mom, Dad… we think the bathroom’s flooded!”
Without our morning coffee to wake us up we simply thought that the toilet had been clogged and maybe some (keyword being some) water had overflowed.
NO SUCH LUCK!
Walking into the bathroom we were greeted by soaking wet blue rugs swimming underwater. The best was yet to come, however! When we went downstairs to get the Shopvac we noticed that there was a waterfall falling from the air vent in the playroom and a bubble in the ceiling of the family room.
Fast forward to a few hours later (after calling the insurance company who sent out a company in charge of cleaning up the water and drying everything) and this is what you get…
Another hole in the family room…
Weeks later the damage remains (covered with a plastic tarp) as our battle with the insurance company continues.
For someone who has never filed a claim before, this was a HUGE deal for us…
UNTIL…
reading reports about the repeated devastation in Oklahoma…
and reading about the recent loss of 19 Arizona firefighters.
Compared to both events, my loss was NOTHING! The message was coming in loud and clearly…
My time away, reminded me how precious and valuable time is. Many times as moms and teachers we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of planning, creating, coaxing, managing, and juggling that consumes our every day lives. However, every now and then we have those AHA moments when we realize that we need to reevaluate, recharge, and reassess.
That’s what I’ve been doing for the past few weeks and I feel more focused and inspired. I’ve even had some time to create a few more FREEBIES for the start of the school year and am excited to share them with you.

Finally, I leave you with something to think about…
So how do you plan on spending the rest of your summer?
XOXO,
Thank you for sharing your freebies! My house had a similar situation with the upstairs bathroom shower leaking into the downstairs bath- it is a mess, but I agree with you it could be so much worse.
