I finally returned to my classroom last week and I must say I have had a hard time thinking about anything besides my class setup. It's as if it's consuming my every thought. Has that ever happened to you? I mean I love the setup process and find it exhilarating. However, the problem I'm having is winding down at the end of the day when it's time to sleep and recharge my batteries. Maybe some hot tea will help... In the meantime I shall blog. Here are some pics of what my class looked like when I first arrived:
Anyhow I'm excited to share with you all a little tip I learned many years ago to cover up all of those ugly computer cords that dangle underneath the computer table or to make ANY plain rectangular or kidney table look dressed up. And the best part is that it costs about $5.00.
My trick is to use a plain old Table Skirt from Party City! 1 skirt was enough for me to cover the 2 rectangular computer tables in my classroom. All you have to do is remove the backing that exposes a small adhesive tab, place it around the table to your liking, and lastly add a few stables to secure it to the table. If by any chance your skirt is too long, simply cut with a pair of scissors. Voila! Your ugly table is now beautifully dressed... and the best part is that the skirt is cheap and comes in a variety of colors. Doesn't my computer table look much nicer with the skirt?
I also wanted to share a project I worked on today called Welcome Bags. I created a similar version of these bags last year for the first day of school, and my students absolutely loved them. So I decided to revamp them to match this years theme.
As you can see from the picture, on the front of the bag is a tag listing all of the items in the bag and their significance. For example, the significance of the STAR is to remind students to reach for the stars and always give 100%. Then on the back of the bag is a Super Kid label that says "Welcome to the 3rd Grade!" I went ahead and made these tags and labels for kinder-5th grade. If you would like to check them out further simply click here.
Lastly, I leave you with my August currently from Oh Boy Fourth Grade...
XOXO,
Love your currently- especially the blue nails. I'm giving away two lunchboxes on my blog.
