Monday’s Message and Highlight's Magazine FREEBIE

quote

I found this quote posted on the cash register of a store I was shopping at this weekend. Doesn’t this quote say it ALL for teachers? It seems like EVERYDAY we do what we can with what we have… or don’t have for that matter.

Now onto my Highlight’s Magazine treasure… I absolutely love, love, love highlights magazines! I must confess, though, that my love for the magazine began when I was 8 years old. You see I’ve been receiving Highlights for almost 30 years. OH MY!!!! Has Highlights been around for that long? Yes they have… And although I’ve graduated from the Arts and Crafts corner (my favorite section when I was 8) to the funny jokes and well written narratives and informational texts, I have yet to get tired of the magazine. As a matter of fact, I’m quite embarassed at my classroom Highlights collection. I have magazines that date back to 1998! Can you believe that?

Well, besides the fact that I think the fiction and nonfiction passages in the story are great for my students, I also love the FREE Classroom Gifts I get for my classroom every year. Take a look at my classroom mailboxes…

mailboxes

I ordered this pocket chart a few years ago and my students absolutely love it. They love having their OWN mailboxes, and I love the ease with which I am now able to pass out papers. Each student has their name on one of the pockets and if I need to give them a note or pass out papers from the office, all I have to do is get a helper who is finished with their work to  place the papers in everyone’s mailbox. Then at the end of the day, or in the morning, I place a “you’ve got mail” sign on the board that reminds students to check their mailbox.

If you’d like to find out about Highlights 3 easy steps program for Free Gifts just click here. (BTW- I am not being paid to endorse the magazine… :0) and the best part about the FREE gifts is that your students do NOT have to subscribe to the magazine in order for you to receive your gifts.

Have you ever received Freebies from Highlights? If so, what’s the best Freebie you’ve received from them?

XOXO,

Melissa Signature
